Irene S. Kazmers, MD, FACP
Dr. Irene Kazmers has dedicated her career to the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients with conditions that fall within the broad spectrum of the field of Rheumatology, including the many forms of arthritis such as rheumatoid, psoriatic and osteoarthritis, anklylosing spondylitis, gout, pseudogout, systemic lupus erythematosus, systemic sclerosis, Sjogren’s syndrome, Raynaud’s disease and the various systemic vasculitides. Dr. Kazmers earned her B.S. degree in Biology at Stanford University, then received her M.D. Degree from the University of California, San Francisco. She completed the 3 year Internal Medicine Internship and Residency program at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, followed by 2 years of Rheumatology Fellowship training at the University of Michigan. She then joined the teaching faculty at the University of Michigan for 3 years, followed by several years on the clinical faculty at the University of Washington in Seattle. She worked as a private practice rheumatologist in Lexington, Kentucky for 5 years before returning to the University of Michigan as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Rheumatology Division. In 2004, Dr. Kazmers moved to Petoskey and worked at Harbor Arthritis Center until opening her solo practice, Northern Michigan Rheumatology, in 2009. She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology, certified by the American Board of Integrative and Holistic Medicine, and certified in musculoskeletal ultrasound by the American College of Rheumatology (RhMSUS). She is a member of the American College of Rheumatology and a Fellow Member of the American College of Physicians (FACP).
